ead Stadium Womens Kendall Fuller Jersey , a young man impeccably dressed who looked as if he'd stepped out of a college classroom greeted Chiefs wide receiver Sammy Watkins with a brilliant smile and an enthusiastic high-five.Watkins had just had another standout performance in another Chiefs win, and Brett Veach no doubt felt a bit of satisfaction that his much-panned free-agent acquisition was paying such dividends. Then again, just about everything the Chiefs general manager does these days turns out all right. His draft picks are thriving. His free-agent pickups have worked out brilliantly. And his myriad moves to cultivate depth and competition throughout the roster have allowed the Chiefs to not only deal with significant injuries but also race to an 8-1 start and take a stranglehold on the AFC West."Brett is very, very thorough and always prepared for whatever the scenario is, whether it's the draft or free agency or just working the roster on a week-to-week basis," Chiefs owner Clark Hunt said recently. "He and Andy (Reid) work well together and that's an important part of the equation."Indeed, when Reid was hired as the Chiefs coach it was with the understanding that he would no longer handle the GM duties that bogged him down in Philadelphia. So, Hunt hired John Dorsey away from the Packers front office, and one of his top lieutenants was one of Reid's protgs from Philly.Veach had joined him there when he was not yet 30, the former Delaware standout taking an entry level job on Reid's staff. But he quickly impressed everyone in the organization with his detail, work ethic and acumen, and he rose through the ranks before joining the front office in Kansas City. When the decision came last summer to part with Dorsey, Veach was a somewhat unexpected choice. But despite taking the reins on the eve of training camp, he nevertheless put his fingerprints on a roster that would win the division title. He traded for former first-round draft pick Cam Ervin, who now starts on the offensive line, and for Reggie Ragland, who now starts at linebacker. He made a series of moves deeper down the depth chart, too, seemingly never taking a break.Veach continued to make aggressive roster moves after the season, dealing away quarterback Alex Smith for cornerback Kendall Fuller and a draft pick and turning the job over to Patrick Mahomes. The moves have paid off in every way possible: Mahomes is off to a record-setting start to his career, the Chiefs created some much-needed salary cap space, Fuller has been their best cornerback and the third-round pick they acquired has turned into more help for their rebuilt defense.Yes, even Veach's draft picks have paid off.He was without a first-round selection in April because of the trade to select Mahomes last year, but he nevertheless moved adroitly around the draft board to acquire players he liked.Second-round pick Breeland Speaks has started at outside linebacker with Justin Houston hurt, and defensive tackle Derrick Nnadi and linebacker Dorian O'Daniel have been regulars as third-round picks. Safety Armani Watts was pushing for a starting job before landing on injured reserve earlier this year and sixth-round pick Tremon Smith has been a special teams standout."Going back to last year," Hunt said, "I was impressed with the short amount of time that he had to make some changes going into the 2017 season that ultimately really had an impact. That wasn't something I was expecting. And Brett's now had a full offseason, a draft and free agency, and he's made a lot of moves, and I think we're seeing the fruit of his labor this year."It's not just the moves Veach has made, either. He's also shown patience to stand pat when nothing suits his liking, such as he did when the trade deadline passed without a peep."He's not going to do something just to do it to appease. He's going to do what's best for the Chiefs and he's really good about that," Reid said. "That's just where he's at."So far his best has been nearly perfect.Chiefs Stock Report: Whose stock is rising, or falling, after the win against the Steelers In stock market terms http://www.thechiefsfootballauthentic.com/mitchell-schwartz- jersey-authentic , securities or indices are found through technical analysis to have something called resistance levels. The idea is that there is a price that forms somewhat of a ceiling. The stock may bounce up against the resistance level but struggles to break through it. Until it does. Breaking the resistance level might be an indicator that the stock can reach levels where it hasn't been before, setting a new ceiling and potentially a higher floor (support level). The Pittsburgh Steelers have been the resistance level for this franchise for years. Just when we think the Kansas City Chiefs are capable of competing for a conference title, the Steelers remind us that there is a ceiling. Perhaps breaking through, as the Chiefs did this week, is an indicator that the team will be able to reach a level we haven't seen before.STOCK UPCharles LeClaire-USA TODAY SportsQuarterback Patrick Mahomes: It's long been thought that Mahomes had a high ceiling, but that he wouldn't reach it early in his career. People thought he'd throw many interceptions, and would take time to adjust to the pro game. Well, it appears that the pro game is going to need more time to adjust to Pat Mahomes. He's destroying expectations thus far, indicating that we might have underestimated him, even with all of the hype. If 10 touchdowns, no interceptions and going undefeated on the road against playoff-level teams is a resistance level, what's next for Mahomes?Confidence & mental toughness: The Chiefs have struggled to get to the next level, partially because they were unable to counter when punched. This team has won a lot of games by striking early, getting a lead, then trying to hold on. Sometimes it worked, other times momentum shifted to their opponent, and the Chiefs lacked the confidence and mental toughness to regain control of the game. This week, Mahomes and company came roaring out after halftime to regain command after the Steelers had overcome a three-touchdown deficit. Weaker Chiefs teams might have folded. It's a great sign to see the 2018 team punch back with confidence.Left guard Cameron Erving: Surprises of the preseason included Erving being handed the left guard spot, ending the presumed competition, sending the other two recent starters off of the roster and getting a contract extension. The surprise of the regular season thus far for Erving is that it appears he's proving the team correct. Erving hasn't been very noticeable through the first two games, which is a great sign for an offensive lineman. We've seen a couple of highlights, without noting any embarrassing losses. So far, so good for No. 75.Philip G. Pavely-USA TODAY SportsTravis Kelce: Last week, he had a down week as it pertains to making plays, but excelled as a blocker. We rightfully assumed that his turn to be featured in the passing game would come soon enough. It did. His stat line of seven receptions, 109 yards and two touchdowns reminded fantasy owners what he can do. The way in which he dominated the Steelers over the middle and after the catch reminded teams that if they pay too much attention to Tyreek Hill, the Chiefs will make them pay.Sammy Watkins: Welcome to the show, Mr. Watkins. We've been expecting you. Watkins impressed in Week 2 with a 31-yard run to go along with his first 100-yard receiving game in a Chiefs uniform. He showed the speed, hands and run-after-catch ability that we hoped would be a tremendous complement to Tyreek Hill. Good luck, NFL defenses.Orlando Scandrick: The favorite subject of Chiefs fans' ire is actually playing some decent football. Yes, he was flagged for a very costly penalty this week, but his physical style of play also yielded some positive results in coverage. His stock is up, in part because it couldn't have gone down from last week. Perhaps Scandrick can gradually win fans over instead of reminding us of all the ghosts of cornerbacks past. The Chiefs offensive line: Only one sack allowed each week so far against two teams that can get after the quarterback. Actually, Mahomes could have avoided both, but he stepped right into the defender each time. Run blocking was a bit of an issue last week http://www.thechiefsfootballauthentic.com/ron-parker-jersey- authentic , and the numbers still aren't great, but they seem to be trending in the right direction. We thought that Mahomes might make up for some deficiencies in the pass protection, given his ability to extend plays. It turns out he can, but the offensive line is starting to play better as a unit as well. At least they didn't let the Steelers bully them this time.Others trending in the right direction: Allen Bailey, Ron Parker, Chiefs special teams, Dee FordSTOCK DOWNDenny Medley-USA TODAY SportsLinebacker/standup 5-tech, Breeland Speaks: The rookie has gotten off to a slow start. He's getting nearly double the snaps of Tanoh Kpassagnon without a standout play to show for it. Box scores are not everything, but for what it's worth, Speaks doesn't yet have a tackle, much less a sack. Speaks has the size and strength to set the edge and be a difference maker against the run, but he may be finding that it takes more than that to win against NFL offensive linemen. The Chiefs' ability to make it through a defensive play without a penalty: Penalties in the secondary wiped out two Chiefs turnovers, including one that would have been a touchdown. We can debate all day whether they were legit calls (both probably were), but it's clearly something that the team needs to work on. For a defense that has some known deficiencies, giving opponents extra snaps and free yardage is not palatable. This defense is going to struggle taking the ball away without Marcus Peters and Eric Berry, so they have to find other ways to finish drives, instead of extending them by being too grabby.Inside linebacker Reggie Ragland: Ragland hasn't been bad this year, but he's shown his limitations in the passing game, and has missed more tackles than you'd like from your enforcer in the middle. He's been banged up, so there's hope that he'll improve as the season goes on.Others trending in the wrong direction: Alex Ellis, Damien Williams, the three-man pass rushSTOCK FLATWide receiver Chris Conley: A mixed bag this week for Conley, with a touchdown and a late fumble (although it was caused by him trying to fight for extra yards). Conley may seem like the forgotten man on the Chiefs stellar wide receiver corps, but he's a reliable blocker and will make a play now and then. Linebacker Justin Houston: I don't want to hear about his "decline." He's still a difference maker for this team, even if he's not filling up a box score every week. Safety Eric Murray: Murray has had an up and down season thus far. Against Pittsburgh, he had a chance at a sack, and he missed. That said, Murray has shown some ability to cover, as our own Craig Stout points out.Others who are who we thought they were: Anthony Hitchens, Demetrius Harris, Steven Nelson, Tanoh Kpassagnon, Tyreek Hill

arly in the week the Indianapolis Colts were hoping to get Anthony Castonzo and Marlon Mack back in the lineup for their Week 2 matchup with the Washington Redskins. The Colts have since ruled out Castonzo http://www.authenticsindianapoliscolts.com/cheap-matthias-fa rley-jersey , Denico Autry, Chris Milton and Denzelle Good for today's game. That left the Colts with three more to make inactive today with Mack, Grover Stewart and Clayton Geathers all listed as questionable coming into the day. Mack and Stewart were both full participants Friday while Geathers did not participate. However, Mack and Geathers will both be active today which is a very good sign for the backfields on both side of the ball for the Colts. On the other hand, Tarell Basham is a healthy scratch today which might just say something about how the team sees him. Jihad Ward, who was recently activated from the practice squad is getting a chance to show what he can do for the team. Here's the rest of the Colts inactives. The Redskins, meanwhile, only had safety Troy Apke definitively listed as out for the game heading into today. Receiver Maurice Harris (concussion), tackle Morgan Moses (knee) and receiver Paul Richardson (shoulder) all came into today listed as questionable and due to their practice designations Youth Jordan Wilkins Jersey , they all looked more like doubtful for today.Moses and Richardson will indeed be active today, though, and here is the rest of the list of who the Redskins are sitting today. Adam Vinatieri's record-breaking quest could be temporarily on hold. The seemingly ageless kicker re-injured his right groin during the Indianapolis Colts' victory over Buffalo on Sunday, underwent an MRI on Monday and coach Frank Reich acknowledged he might miss next weekend's game at Oakland.Vinatieri first appeared on the injury report in Week 5 before facing his former team, New England. The 43-year-old looked fine in the game, making a 54-yard field goal and finishing with six points to move within 20 of breaking Morten Andersen's league scoring record of 2,544 points. The Colts kicker added three more field goals in Week 6 against the New York Jets and another against the Bills -- though he also missed two extra points in a game for the first time in his 23-year career. He needs five points to move past Andersen."We just know he felt a little something on the first PAT, so we are just going to see how the week progresses," Reich said on a conference call. "We're going to bring in some kickers White Eric Ebron Jersey , just so you guys know, but we are not going to make any decisions until later."Vinatieri has been a model of consistency throughout his career. His legacy as the best clutch kicker in history began with two kicks in the "Snow Bowl", one to force overtime and one to beat Oakland in overtime. That victory helped lead New England to its second Super Bowl appearance. Two weeks later, he made the winning kick in the final minute to give the Patriots their first championship since the AFL-NFL merger. He made another last-minute, Super Bowl-winning kick two years later to give the Patriots the second of their five Lombardi Trophies. The story continued after he signed with Indianapolis before the 2006 season. Vinatieri made five field goals in a divisional-round matchup at Baltimore, a game in which no touchdowns were scored, to help send the Colts on their first title run since moving to Indianapolis.Vinatieri has four championship rings, is a three-time All-Pro selection and last month broke Andersen's record for field goals. Andersen finished with 565. Vinatieri has 571.And Vinatieri has achieved all those feats largely because of his uncanny ability to stay healthy. He's missed only 15 games during his career, 10 coming in 2009 when he finished the season on injured reserve. This injury even caught Reich by surprise."I thought he was just like a robot White Denico Autry Jersey ," Reich said. "He's a machine. But the good thing is he has that mental toughness, that mindset to do what he has done in his career. You know he has the right mindset to get past this -- whatever course it should take."Now, though, Reich & Co. must figure out their next move.Reich doesn't anticipate Indy (2-5) signing Vinatieri's potential replacement immediately and instead will rely on trainers to closely monitor Vinatieri's health, consulting Vinatieri before making a decision.Keeping him out this week could work to Vinatieri's advantage, too.The Colts have a bye following the Raiders game, giving Vinatieri two weeks to heal, then play three straight games in the climate-controlled confines of Lucas Oil Stadium.Sitting out a week also could help Vinatieri achieve his stated preference of breaking Andersen's record on his home turf -- even if this wasn't how he planned it."Ultimately when you've got a guy like Adam, who's just so unique http://www.authenticsindianapoliscolts.com/cheap-al-woods-je rsey , we are going to listen to him," Reich said. "We are going to listen to the trainers and that will be what will inform our decision."NOTES: Reich provided no updates on tight end Erik Swoope, who did not return after hurting his knee Sunday, or defensive lineman Jihad Ward, who was carted off the field after appearing to injure his right ankle. ... Reich also could not say whether Pro Bowl tight end Jack Doyle (hip) could return this week. Doyle has missed six straight games.

In a narrow victory over the Tennessee Titans Authentic Jeremy Kerley Jersey , the Buffalo Bills helped themselves out by keeping the flags at bay. In what was certainly a game of inches, mistake-free football likely played a significant role in not handing it all away. Traditional and Advanced MetricsPenalty countFor the second week in a row, the Bills fall well below the league average in assessed count. The Titans were right behind them with both teams having a clean game. The only shift when it comes to total flags is one declined penalty on the Bills. The league average for both assessed and thrown flags continues to creep down each week. Penalty yardsThere's very little additional story to tell when it comes to yards. As would be expected, both teams fall under the assessed average by a significant margin, with the Bills putting in a slightly better performance than the Titans. For true yards, the Bills wiped out a five-yard gain--and that was it for yards affected by penalty for the entirety of the game. Penalty HarmTennessee TitansNot only were the Titans good at keeping their count low, but none of the penalties are especially egregious. A delay of game and neutral-zone infraction were strictly the five-yards-each variety, or 0.5 Harm. Ben Jones' offensive holding was yardage-only as well (ten yards or 1.0 Harm). Kamalei Correa was called for unnecessary roughness (see below). As it came on first down. This, too, was yardage only for 1.5 Harm. The only penalty on the Titans with a deeper story to tell was the defensive holding called on DaQuan Jones. As it came on second down, it gave the Bills a free down in addition to the five yards for 1.5 Harm. The Titans ended the day with a total of 5.0 Harm. This translates to a very good day on the penalty front. I know the GIF is suggesting that maybe this wasn't a good call but that's just having a little fun with it. Josh Allen threw the ball away well before the contact and Correa has no reason to be anywhere near Allen, let alone making contact. From the first angle I think there's a good case to hold the flag. From the ref's angle Cheap Tremaine Edmunds Jersey , though, you gotta pull it. I'm not saying he oversold the shove, but this is the same Josh Allen who walked around with a defender draped over his legs a couple weeks ago. Buffalo BillsDeon Lacey was called for offside on a kickoff. The Titans elected to take the five yards after the return. Tre'Davious White was flagged for holding. On first down it was yards only. John Miller's hold was declined as the pass attempt on 3rd-and-9 fell incomplete. Two calls seemed a little odd live, so lets take a look. Apologies for the yellow circle in the middle. The best angle available was via the broadcast feed and it has the marking from the broadcast team. This one looks like a terrible call on the surface as Dion Dawkins' shove at the end is not only within the rules but good form. In real time though, that right arm could easily look like it's swinging and clubbing the head of Correa. Making things more complicated, recall this occurred almost immediately after Correa shoved Josh Allen, meaning the refs were on high alert for retaliation. Does that make this the right call? No. But in context it's an understandable one. This seems like complete BS. Under the false start rules it prohibits an offensive player from any abrupt movement that "simulates the start of the snap." More importantly, the NFL rules direct the officials to call this when there is "quick abrupt movement." Furthermore, this is supposed to be called on any obvious attempt by a player set to receive the snap (like Allen is) to draw an opponent offside. This 4th-and-3 play surely felt like an attempt to draw the Titans offside. Allen's hands do appear to simulate him preparing for the ball and this flag does match up with the rule. That being said, how often does this go uncalled? This penalty is the rare intersection where "technically correct" meets "still bullcrap." The Bills closed shop with an insanely low 3.5 Harm and a win, so maybe we can move past it.Buffalo Bills fantasy football preview, Week 6: Defense wins championships The Buffalo Bills are 2-3 Authentic Marcus Murphy Jersey , having won a pair of games that most prognosticators expected them to lose. Their roster is full of players whose fantasy-football prospects are not exactly solid. With a running back averaging only 43 rushing yards per game, a quarterback throwing for 150 yards per game, and a top wide receiver (Zay Jones) averaging 33 yards per game, Buffalo isn't exactly a hotbed of fantasy-football activity. However, each week brings different situations, and this weekend's match-up with the Houston Texans provides some possible plays for risk-seeking fantasy football owners and homers alike. If you're still trying to win in fantasy football with Bills players, I admire your faith. Here are a few options that could help you this week.Bills D/STThis one seems pretty surreal given the start of the season, but Buffalo's defense has very quietly put together a fantastic 14-quarter stretch. After allowing 75 points in the season's first six quarters, the Bills have only allowed 43 since Vontae Davis retired at halftime of the home opener against the Los Angeles Chargers. For the season, the Bills have 12 sacks, three interceptions, and six fumble recoveries. After totaling 1 point through the season's first two weeks White Lorenzo Alexander Jersey , the Bills' defense has scored 17, 6, and 12 over the last three--giving them the 15th-best total for the season at the position. Buffalo's defense is available in 98% of Yahoo! leagues, and they could be a great option this week given the uncertainty surrounding Houston quarterback Deshaun Watson. Even if Watson plays, he's taken 18 sacks on the year, second only to Josh Allen. QB Josh AllenSpeaking of Allen, the Bills' highest fantasy scorer is still a low-end (read: not startable in most leagues) option at his position, but if you're feeling frisky or your league allows you to deploy multiple quarterbacks, you could certainly do worse than Allen. Nearly all of his fantasy value right now is in his legs, a situation Bills fans are more than accustomed to with their quarterback. Allen has 3 rushing touchdowns on the year to go with 135 rushing yards, buoying his dreadful passing stats (748 yards, 2 touchdowns White Jordan Mills Jersey , 5 interceptions). Yahoo! projects Allen to score 16.2 points this week, making him QB22 in their projections. Houston has allowed three quarterbacks to score at least 19.8 points on the year, but all three of them (Tom Brady, Eli Manning, and Andrew Luck) are experienced veterans who are far better than Allen. Buffalo's signal caller is a risky play.RB LeSean McCoyIf it's volume you want, you'll have exactly that with McCoy, who saw 24 of his 45 carries in 2018 during Sunday's 13-12 win over the Tennessee Titans. McCoy did not appear to be at all affected by the rib injury he suffered in Week 2. If offensive coordinator Brian Daboll follows a similar game plan to the one used last week, where Buffalo ran the ball on 43 of 63 plays from scrimmage, then we can expect McCoy to have another week of 25 touches. That doesn't guarantee efficiency or success, but it guarantees opportunity--which is all you can really ask for in setting a lineup.

inting 2015 season Mike McCarthy will be coaching for his job in Week 8 when the Packers travel to Los Angeles to face the best team in football. And again in Week 9 when Green Bay heads back on the road to face the Patriots. This team doesn't have to win those games -- in fact Cheap Kevin King Jersey , they shouldn't be expected to -- but they can't have their pants pulled down ... again. The 2018 season sits cantilevered on a precipice for McCarthy and Co. at 1265 Lombardi Ave. We've seen them shake off slow starts to seasons in the past, namely in 2010 and 2014, the two best recent vintages of the NFL's most storied franchise. If this team falls however, and they're more in danger of slipping than at any time in the McCarthy era, the Packers could be looking for a head coach this offseason. And unfortunately for the team, the coaches, and its fans, the '18 Packers are beginning to look eerily similar to the 2015 team. McCarthy survived that season. He won't survive a repeat. Coming off the heartbreaking conclusion to the 2014 season, the Packers made wholesale changes to the secondary through the draft but did little else to boost them closer to contention. A Jordy Nelson torn ACL should never have doomed this offense, but it did. Injuries to Davante Adams and Randall Cobb further cut into the playmaking talent on Green Bay's team, but Mike McCarthy's decision to give up playcalling went about as well as Mason Crosby's Week 5 and the offense sputtered all season. As the talent ebbed, McCarthy showed an inability to mitigate the issues with scheme. Rodgers play, coming off his second MVP season http://www.packerscheapshoponline.com/cheap-authentic-tramon -williams-jersey , likewise waned and they never consistently found a rhythm. They played just well enough to get into the playoffs, but lost a Week 17 for the division against Teddy Bridgewater and the Vikings. Rodgers' magic nearly led the Packers to the NFC Championship once again, but the defense collapsed in overtime against the Cardinals and Green Bay's trying season came to a merciful conclusion. The seams showed on an offense lacking imagination. Rodgers became jumpy in the pocket, not trusting his protection or his receivers -- none of whom were ever open. Coming off a painfully conservative NFC Championship Game against Seattle, McCarthy failed to push this offense forward. Excuses were ready-made. No Nelson. Adams wasn't ready. Lacy had fallen woefully out of shape. The rookie cornerbacks just weren't quite ready for primetime. When the team comes back healthy, they'll be fine. And they still have Aaron Rodgers. Fast forward to Week 11 of the '16 season with the Packers sitting in the locker room after getting blown out against Washington. With their record 4-6, Rodgers uttered a phrase that will become canonical in Packers history and just might have saved McCarthy's job. But Rodgers hasn't forgotten how they got to the point of needing to Run the Table鈩? For most of the early parts of '16, the Packers offense didn't look markedly better. Injuries at running back forced Green Bay to move Ty Montgomery from receiver, but he was never deployed in the kind of devastating way one might expect Josh McDaniels or Sean McVay would. Despite a healthy Nelson and a maturing Adams, the Packers scored 30 points just twice through 13 weeks of the season, and won just one such game.Rodgers bailed out a stale offense in 2016. The defense bailed it out in 2015. At some point, the Packers have to decide if they're better off just leaving McCarthy in bad offense jail. Putting up nearly 1,000 total yards of offense the last two weeks for the Packers resulted in just 55 total points. A red zone offense that had been automatic in 2017 looks flaccid in 2018. There's no accounting for how McCarthy has utilized Aaron Jones (or not) in this offense Cheap Kenny Clark Jersey , or the predictable playcalling. Oddly, the scheme has been pretty good. There are more combination routes, fewer iso routes, and more favorable matchups, but it's clear Rodgers doesn't trust it. Doesn't trust McCarthy. It's the only explanation for him consistently missing open receivers, failing to work progressions, and preferring instead to play backyard football. On a fourth down against the Bills, the Packers ran a pick play for Davante Adams to the left side of the formation and Adams broke wide open. It would have been an easy pitch-and-catch first down. Instead, Rodgers looked to rookie Marqueze Valdes-Scantling and nearly threw a pick-six. The play was designed to go to Adams, but Rodgers didn't even look there. He has to take some of the blame for his own poor play, but go back and watch Rodgers early in his career. There are fewer second-reaction plays and more on-time throws. He played in rhythm and on time because McCarthy's offense fit the incredible set of skill players the Packers could put on the week every week. They don't have that advantage anymore. The Bears don't have better skill personnel than the Packers, but Matt Nagy made Mitch Trubisky look like Peyton Manning against the Bucs last week (though in fairness, the Bucs helped). It's not hard to look around the league at offenses churning out huge plays with less talent than Green Bay possesses http://www.packerscheapshoponline.com/cheap-authentic-kentre ll-brice-jersey , especially at quarterback. There are no more excuses for McCarthy and this offense. The blueprint is out there. Just flat out steal plays if that's what it takes. Everyone else is already doing it. Some better health and better play from Rodgers could cure what ails this offense, but at what point does Mark Murphy look at this team and believe it's better to treat the root cause of the problems rather than the symptoms? If Mike McCarthy is a highly successful football coach, this is where he has to show it. Be willing to change, show an ability to evolve, or simply go quietly into that good night because if he doesn't do the former, he will almost certainly do the latter. The Green Bay Packers and Buffalo Bills rarely meet on the football field, but the two franchises share some commonalities. They occupy the two smallest markets in the NFL, they both embrace cold-weather climates, and they both have passionate and often quirky fanbases. One group wears foam cheese on their heads. The other body-slams folding tables at tailgate parties. We'll let you decide which is more strange. This week, the two teams meet for the first time in four years, as the NFL's schedule rotation dictates, and it's the first time in eight seasons that they face off at Lambeau Field. past the Chiefs So Cheap Roquan Smith Jersey , about that preseason resting and snap fervor. Maybe Matt Nagy should've just started the Bears' No. 2's all along! If they're going to come onto the field and smack his mentor in Andy Reid's Chiefs starters around, who knows what they're capable of full time?Only kidding. The Bears' backups walloped the Chiefs last Saturday. That we know for sure. The offense itself, led by Chase Daniel, never punted and scored three touchdowns in one half. Whatever Nagy did to motivate his group in lieu of most of the Bears' major stars not contributing, it worked wonders. Chicago's starters didn't have to take notes at the performance. They had to be there for their teammates as they put on a show. The main standout from the Bears' offensive onslaught was rookie seventh round pick, Javon Wims. Coming into the game, it was assumed Chicago may have kept him on their final 53-man roster anyway. After roaring through the Kansas City back line, that's no longer in question. How did Wims do it exactly?A combination of terrific athleticism he already possessed, to go with fantastic route and technique discipline: aspects many thought Wims would struggle with at the NFL level. Let's take a deep dive look at the film of Wims from the Bears' first game at Soldier Field in 2018. What was most impressive about Wims' play against the Chiefs is that each of his four catches for 115 yards went for first downs. Each, while not always a deep bomb downfield, was a crucial play for Chicago's offense in a needed moment. Wims knew he would effectively be the Bears' No. 1 wideout with this stripped-down offense and he didn't disappoint. Wims' first catch, a short nine-yard curl early in the second quarter, showed he came to shine against the Chiefs. By far his smallest gain of the day, it was more an illustrator of how difficult it would be to bring down the 6-foot-4 receiver. A nice fit of toughness to get the first down. Robert ZeglinskiThere's nothing fancy about what Wims does here aside from quickly recognizing where the open hole in the Chiefs' defense is. He takes a curl towards the middle of the field, sits, takes the timing play from Daniel, and then does the rest of the hard work to get past the marker. All information processed within a blink of an eye. Many receivers struggle with that sudden informational adaptation. Not the flashiest of receptions, but a fantastic indicator of Wims' growing awareness and instinct. Later in the same drive and three plays later, Wims made a mockery of the Chiefs' secondary. If the aforementioned purely red zone target in college at Georgia was a one-trick pony before, he certainly isn't now.Getting open was one thing. Running through Kansas City's secondary is another. Robert ZeglinskiWhat helps Wims on this route is again, awareness. Nagy's offense and scheme is all about timing and being in the right place at the right time. We've previously heard Adam Shaheen how it's more about being there for the quarterback rather than how you get to your destination in route running. This was another perfect example. Wims had a deep crosser to run on this third down play for the Bears, worked his way past the helpless Kansas City corner, and the rest is effort and history. None of it works if Wims doesn't get to this spot by the time finishes his drop. Timing, timing, and more timing. Everything after the catch with Wims finding a seam up the sideline as Chiefs defenders flailed their arms in pursuit Madden style was not how the play was drawn up. That was Wims taking matters into his own hands and turning a possession third down catch, into a 54-yard chunk play. If he was slow as an amateur, once again, he certainly isn't now.Wims' catch-and-run was a Herculean effort. Robert ZeglinskiFinally, with Wims doing the heavy lifting on this drive Cheap Mitchell Trubisky Jersey , he saved his best of the three receptions for last. That mentioned red zone dynamo? It makes perfect sense as to why Wims has always thrived in such a fashion. An excellent example of athleticism and nuance in one. Robert ZeglinskiHow does Wims get so open on this touchdown? It's the crossing routes that throw off the Chiefs' defensive backs. Since Kevin White and Marlon Brown are lined up to the left side of Wims, their responsibility on this play is more to draw attention away from Wims if they're not getting the ball. White at the bottom takes his man to the outside to clear space while making sure not to veer too far into the end zone, while Brown next to him runs a short slant to clear out room for Wims to get to the left corner. Both fill their roles to allow Wims breathing room as the pass develops. This is what is called a Double China concept, where the two outside receivers' main goal is to get room for the wideout running the over corner route, in this case Wims, by going inside. It's about drawing attention away for the slot playmaker making the deepest of breaks running over the top. At that point, it's on Wims - who had lined up in the left short slot - to make the play and beat his man once his receiving teammates have done their jobs. Beat his man like a drum he did. Robert ZeglinskiReceptions do not get better than this.No. 24 David Amerson actually did an okay job of sticking with Wims. Once the ball was in the air, only the big-bodied receiver Wims could get it and make the graceful toe-tapping touchdown. A sublimely executed play by the Bears' main receiving trio this game, with a stellar capper by Wims. After the hoopla of that one second quarter possession, the Bears' offense would go quiet for most of the rest of the game. These kinds of plays from Wims came around more sparingly for everyone. Tyler Bray isn't Daniel in experience and execution, another fact we know. However, Bray and Wims would combine for one last magic trick late. A play that would be remembered more from this preseason contest if not for the more meaningful show Wims put on earlier. With the Bears backed up near their own goal line on a 3rd and 16 halfway through the fourth quarter, Chicago's third quarterback and fifth (or sixth) receiver in Wims played catch with each other in the backyard. It just so happened a defense was trying to stop them from bonding. No one said it would be this easy, but Wims' stem here shows it was. Robert ZeglinskiWhat's notable about this 44-yard completion near the end of the game is that I'd argue the catch was more impressive than Bray's beauty to drop the ball into a bucket. That type of over-the-shoulder snag with a defender in your back pocket is among the toughest plays in football to make. Wims makes it look routine while breaking a tackle or two in the process. Quite frankly, Wims won on this route at the start, as most receivers do on most pass plays. Your technique at the line of scrimmage ends up determining most successes or failures. No. 43 Makinton Dorleant tries to jam Wims at the line of scrimmage, but the freakishly sized receiver has none of it. Wims doesn't let Dorleant take him off schedule, uses his hands to slap away Dorleant, and tightly turns on the burners towards the outside. It's suddenness at the line along with the awareness to maintain space close to the sideline that lets Wims eventually make the catch. Robert ZeglinskiIt's here where Wims had to make sure he left himself enough blades of grass to eventually make the catch. He can't take the outside lane from Dorleant on the go-route but only afford himself the tiniest margin of error once the ball's in the air. His lane had to be precise and tight for outside leverage. Knowing where you are on the field sounds simple enough, but so many players lack that positional awareness. Once Wims adequately created enough room with Dorleant trailing, he appropriately looked back for the ball, and again, the rest was effort and history. Kansas City tackled poorly all afternoon. Not by coincidence Wims had a field day. The Chiefs' defense isn't the best in the NFL. In fact, it might be one of the worst, especially the secondary. Does that take away from Wims' virtuoso performance? No, because someone had to make the plays. The young receiver still had to show he had the talent and capability to maximize on the opportunities afforded to him. In doing so, he found his way with the Bears as a late draft choice. In doing so, Wims became a young playmaker to keep an intent eye on as the 2018 season develops. Now, before everyone chimes in in the comments and says 'KHALIL MACK,' are we really surprised though? I mean, granted, as mostly midwestern folks, Bears fans by and large didn't get a ton of chance to watch Mack over his first four years with the Raiders as a result of his playing on a west coast team. That said, he came here with 40.5 career sacks and two All-Pro seasons and a Defensive Player of the Year award, so I'm not sure he could really catch anyone by surprise. There are some other candidates on the defense, but most of them had solid preseason showings and gave a glimpse of what was to come: Bilal Nichols, Roy Robertson-Harris and Prince Amukamara. Now, I was very close to picking Aaron Lynch, because I really expected him to be a depth piece and nothing more but he's sitting at the bye week with 2 sacks, 2 TFL, 5 QB hits and an interception. He and his killer mustache have been a lot better than I had expected. However, my pick for most surprising Bear of the first quarter of the season is receiver Taylor Gabriel. I expected Gabriel to be a complementary piece, a nice slot receiver and deep threat who could blow the top off the defense and get a couple of deep looks every game. After four games though, Gabriel is the team leader in receptions with 22, tied for the lead in touchdowns with two and second on the team in yards with 193. His yards per reception average is a low 8.8, but that's mostly because of the offense's lack of success going downfield in the first three games. Against Tampa his average jumped to 14.9 YPC. He's on pace for 88 receptions, 772 yards and eight TDs. While those numbers will likely fall slightly, especially due to the sheer number of overall weapons on the offense and the scheme's ability to spread it around, it's still bound to be somewhere around 65-70 rec./650-700 yds/5-6 TDs. That is outstanding production. It's encouraging to see his early rapport with Mitch Trubisky, who has targeted him 29 times, second most on the team and it will be exciting to see where it goes from here.Which player has surprised you the most through the first four games?

record be this season? The 2018 season kicks off tomorrow for the Washington Redskins as they face the Cardinals in Arizona. Expectations for this season are all over the map after the Redskins switched QBs from Kirk Cousins to Alex Smith. Was Cousins holding the team back and not able to win when it chttp://www.sndpic.com//nike_nfl_jerseys/nike_washington_redskins/nike_redskins_1937.jpgounted Authentic Adrian Peterson Jersey , or was the team around him not enough to get to the next level? Will Alex Smith continue his recent winning ways in DC, or is he coming from a better team(Chiefs) with a better coach(Andy Reid), and won't be able to turn the Redskins into a contender.Season predictions are usually a crapshoot as teams have constant changeover every year. There are new teams every year in the playoffs, and usually at least one team that goes from last to first in their division. One of the things that has remained consistent recently is the NFC is the stronger conference and a tougher out than the AFC. Unless you win a weak division like the Redskins did 3 years ago, you're going to need at least 10 wins to see the postseason. Are the Redskins a 10-win team this year? Almost everyone who isn't drinking the Kool-Aid right now says no. There are too many questions marks on the team, and they face a tough schedule this season. Only 5 out of the 13 writers at Hogs Haven picked the Redskins to make the playoffs this year, and only 2 of them had Washington winning the NFC East. The theme for these season predictions is average at best for the 2018 Washington Redskins. The Redskins have been adding solid talent in the draft recently, and have been going with youth over older free agents. Jay Gruden enters his 5th season as the Redskins Head Coach with only 1 playoff appearance that ended after one game. He knows he needs to win now, but is the team going to give him job security after this year. Feel free to introduce topics that interest you in the comments below.Jay Gruden talks offenseWith the trade for Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, most journalists and fans haven't really focused on much of anything else in the past couple of days, but Jay Gruden had some really interesting things to say about his offense, both the running game and passing attack, in his Halloween press conference.I thought it might be useful to try to stitch a few of his comments together.Adrian PetersonGruden spent some time talking about his future Hall of Fame running back, who is 33 years old and currently the 5th ranked rusher in the NFL.In a comment that may have been just a general off-the-cuff remark, or may have been Atlanta-specific, Jay discussed the possibility of the run-pass mix changing a bit:One theme that I've noticed from TV analysts, print journalists, fans, teammates and coaches alike is that AD is being used in a wider range of offensive formations and play designs than has been true for most of his NFL career. There seems to be a consensus that Peterson is enjoying a lot of success because he is embracing the marriage of his gifts with a different style of offense that seems to take full advantage of what he can offer.A theme that has emerged over the past three weeks in Jay's press conferences is to acknowledge that the passing game isn't clicking, to minimize the issues, and to express confidence that it will get better. This week, he seemed to add an element -- talking about adjusting the run-pass mix to be a bit less run-heavy and a bit more pass-dependent, which may be a reaction to the Falcons coming to town, or may just be Jay recognizing that they can't ride Peterson this hard for 16 games and the playoffs.Jay did smile when he delivered this next line, which sounded a bit defensive in response to a question that implied that the Redskins offense might not be able to match Atlanta's passing attack:In an earlier press conference ahead of the Giants game, Jay had talked about the effect that the larger receivers -- playing due to injuries to the smaller starters -- was having on the running game.Asked specifically about Maurice Harris filling in as slot receiver for injured receivers Jamison Crowder and Trey Quinn http://www.authenticswashingtonredskins.com/cheap-tress-way- jersey , Jay doubled down on what the big receiver means to the running game, and why the Redskins might rely more on the rush than the pass at the moment.Still, though, Jay never loses sight of the desire to balance out the attack. He finished that answer by talking about how this all helps the Redskins passing attack.I mentioned already that Jay has tried to minimize the issues in the passing game, saying repeatedly over the past few weeks that the issues just require coaching and minoradjustments, and expressing confidence that it will all be corrected soon.18 October: "We've had a couple shots. We've missed a couple but they are still going to be a major part of our success later on."22 October: " I think once [Josh Dotctson] gets a few opportunities to make some plays and he makes them, they'll be coming in bunches. We just haven't had that splash play yet. Those opportunities will come, he'll get them."23 October: "We will get better on offense. The numbers will come. We're going to stick with the plan and we're going to get better for sure."24 October: "Stick with the plan. Guys are doing good overall, got some wins but I know we can do a lot better offensively." 31 October: Asked about receivers running the wrong routes, Jay said, "Well, some of it is attention to detail, but it didn't happen a whole lot. There are just a few instances where that happened and that can happen from time to time. Guys moving around in different spots, like you said, but guys missing practice from time to time. But for the most part, we've got to get that corrected."So Jay has been minimizing the issues in the passing game, whether they are with the receivers, the quarterback, the offense as a whole, or the play design. But on Wednesday, he let slip that perhaps the coaching staff sees this as a more significant problem than Jay has been indicating with his recent comments would indicate.Wait... what?A big meeting?Sounds serious. But then Jay went back to the standard patter. So, we had a big meeting about it, but it's no big deal. We're winning and the passing game will click very soon.Really.Gotcha.Talking about Jordan ReedJay was also asked about the seeming inability to use Jordan Reed effectively."We" seem to be making a lot of mistakes here.Let me re-phrase part of what Jay had to say there:We targeted Jordan Reed I think 10 or 12 times last week, but Alex missed him four or five times, so I think Alex needs to get used to the routes Jordan runs, and that will come. Alex should have figured this out by now, but he just missed uncharacteristically on a couple of balls outside, Alex just threw it out of bounds, and a little option route Alex over threw him. Jay has become much more adept at masking his frustration with his starting quarterback http://www.redskinsauthorizedshops.com/authentic-jonathan-al len-jersey , but if you follow his comments over the course of the season, I think the cracks are starting to show. This is what Jay had to say about Alex a week ago: This is what Jay had to say about Alex two weeks ago:This is what Jay had to say about Alex before the season started:I get the sense that Jay was expecting Alex to get it a lot faster, and that it's frustrating to be in Week 9 and have a "work in progress".Jay let his frustrations with quarterbacks spill out all over the floor during his press conferences in 2014 and 2015.By 2017 his frustration stayed hidden for most of the year, and didn't really crack Jay's exterior until the season was finished; then he threw some shade at Cousins publicly, though not very dramatically.I sense that Jay struggles to be diplomatic in public... it's not really his nature. He seems like a pretty open guy who has had to learn through experience not to speak openly as a head coach in public, though, to hear Alex Smith tell it, Jay is pretty straightforward when they are together.Alex SmithThere was only one thing about the Alex Smith press conference this week that I wanted to comment on, and -- in a roundabout way -- Alex wasn't really talking about the Redskins offense. When he was asked a question about the impact of defensive pressure up the middle, Alex really gave a tutorial on what happens when Gred Manusky lets the DHogs out.Wow.HaHa Clinton Dix talking about becoming a RedskinI remember checking on details about Daron Payne when he was drafted and coming across a reference to the spelling of his name, and that he preferred 'Daron' rather than Da'Ron, which he said someone had done at Alabama.Of course, Adrian Peterson has created confusion amongst fans for years because his "AD" (All Day) nickname from his father is so close to his initials, AP.We discussed that shortly after he signed with the Redskins to bring a little clarity. It seemed only natural to learn a little bit about a guy named HaHa Clinton-Dix.I found out a couple of nuggets via the power of Google:His name is Ha'Sean Treshon Clinton-DixHe was nicknamed "Ha Ha" as an infant by his grandmother.Apparently, his name was often being pronounced /h蓲藞蕛蓱藧n/ (like "Shaun") instead of the intended /h蓲藞si藧n/ (like "seen")In an interview, he explained that the true nickname is actually "HaHa" (no space, two capitals). So, HaHa it is, then.Clinton-Dix and Swearinger worked out together this past off-season, and became close friends. This guy reminds me of Vernon Davis and Adrian Peterson in terms of a guy who is excited to arrive in Washington with a chance to advance his career with a team that wants him and needs him. This is pretty admirable when you consider that he got traded, not signed as a free agent, and that he only had a short day to adjust and internalize the fact that he was no longer with the team that drafted him 5 years ago.I really became a fan of HaHa Clinton-Dix when he said this in the middle of the press conference: "I'm so excited to be here. You guys don't even understand. You'll see."I could just feel that this wasn't a player mouthing platitudes that were expected of him, but a young man who was genuinely excited to be in Washington, playing for the Redskins. The deeply positive impression was only strengthened when I watched Gruden's press conference this week and heard the coach say that no one on the coaching staff had ever worked with Clinton-Dix before:This isn't a guy reuniting with old coaches or teammates, but a player who has a winning attitude who sees himself in a positive situation.I do think the situation was made better by the relationship that HHCD has with D.J. Swearinger, which seems reminiscent of the Adrian Peterson-Trent Williams connection.HaHa and D.J. appear to be guys who just love each other, and now are thrilled to get the chance to play together.Forgive me if that fills me with optimism.

Eagles punter Donnie Jones has retired after 14 seasons in the NFL.

Jones made the announcement on Tuesday.

Jones played for Seattle http://www.ravensauthorizedshops.com/authentic-mark-andrews- jersey , Miami, St. Louis and Houston before joining Philadelphia in 2013. He set the record for most regular-season games played by an Eagles punter (80). He finishes his career with the third-longest consecutive-games-played streak (208) behind only Texans punter Shane Lechler (254) and Cowboys tight end Jason Witten (235).

"Although I am retiring, I will always be an Eagle and will forever have a special place in my heart for the city of Philadelphia," Jones said.

"It is a great honor to be a part of the first Super Bowl championship team in Eagles history and there is no better way to finish my career."

A look at what's happening around the majors today:

BIG ARMS IN THE BRONX

With slugger Giancarlo Stanton heating up at the plate, the major league-leading Yankees (49-22) go for a three-game sweep of visiting Seattle. Luis Severino (10-2, 2.09 ERA) pitches for New York against lefty James Paxton (6-1, 3.44), who is 5-0 with a 2.55 ERA since the beginning of May a nine-start span that includes a no-hitter in Toronto. The Mariners have lost three straight for the first time since April 17-19 against the World Series champion Astros.

STRANGE TO SEE

Three-time Cy Young Award winner Max Scherzer (10-3, 2.06 ERA) tries to avoid his first three-game losing streak since August 2015 when the Nationals host lowly Baltimore. He'll hope to get some help on offense from slumping slugger Bryce Harper Youth Bradley Chubb Jersey , who went 0 for 4 in a rain-delayed 3-0 loss Wednesday night, dropping his batting average to .209. Washington manager Dave Martinez said Harper has been working hard with batting coach Kevin Long. "He's going to hit. I know he's going to carry us for a month or two or for whatever," Martinez said.

DOCTOR'S APPOINTMENT

Cardinals right-hander Michael Wacha (8-2, 3.20 ERA) is scheduled for an MRI after exiting Wednesday's start with a left oblique strain. "Feeling a little bit better," he said following the game. "I'm hoping for the best." Carlos Martinez (3-3, 2.73) pitches for St. Louis in the opener of a four-game set at Milwaukee. He is 6-4 with a 1.95 ERA against the Brewers. Slumping outfielder Ryan Braun is expected to rejoin the Brewers after the team sent him to Los Angeles on Wednesday for treatment on his achy right thumb. The six-time All-Star is hitting just .236 with eight home runs and 31 RBIs.

SEEKING HIS FIRST WIN

Giants ace Madison Bumgarner (0-2, 4.67 ERA) pitches at home against last-place San Diego, which has dropped four straight. Bumgarner missed the first two months of the season with a broken pinkie. He has lost four in a row to the Padres, who counter with Tyson Ross (5-4 Youth Frank Ragnow Jersey , 3.51). Meanwhile, San Francisco right-hander Jeff Samardzija (shoulder tightness) is set to make his second rehab start with Triple-A Sacramento.

READY TO GO

White Sox outfielder Avisail Garcia (right hamstring strain) could return to the lineup against Oakland in the opener of a four-game series. Garcia was hitting .333 with two home runs and seven RBIs during a six-game rehab stint with Triple-A Charlotte. He batted .330 with 18 homers and 80 RBIs last season, making his first All-Star team.

COMING UP EMPTY

Boston will be looking for a couple of clutch hits against the Minnesota Twins in the finale of its road trip. The Red Sox were 0 for 9 with runners in scoring position Wednesday and are 2 for 22 in the first two games of the series. They stranded 18 runners in those two games and have lost four of five overall. Rick Porcello (8-3, 3.70 ERA) starts against Twins right-hander Kyle Gibson (2-4, 3.27), who has allowed only five runs over his last four starts spanning 26 2/3 innings.

on the road against the Denver Broncos in Week 6 Greg Zuerlein Jersey , winning 23-20. It was an ugly game, sure, but it also revealed a lot of overreactions from fans. Best OverreactionTerrible calls by the refs affected the game tremendously I'm usually pretty sympathetic to what NFL referees have to accomplish during a game; it's a thankless job that requires hard work and determination . And still, the refs were a hot mess on Sunday and nearly cost the Rams the W. The phantom facemask call is my new mystery that I'm obsessed with. They should start a true crime podcast where the point is to find out why the refs thought there was a penalty on that play. Ndamukong Suh had an offsides flag pulled on him was also a national travesty and Aaron Donald was getting held all game. Worst OverreactionCoach Sean McVay's major flaw is his inability to just trust the run game in key situationsThe offensive playcalling for the Los Angeles has been called into question after the team had their lowest scoring output of the season (by ten points). After QB Jared Goff threw on 3rd and 6, resulting in an INT, the term "pass happy" popped up on Twitter in regards to Coach McVay. I don't side with this overreaction because while several plays didn't the go the Rams' way offensively, mainly with the passing game, it was more of an anomaly than bad coaching. Goff was completing some impressively clutch passes to Robert Woods consistently throughout the game, it's just that dice didn't roll the Rams' way, leading to more punting situations than fans are used to. So yeah, McVay didn't have a great game, but it's not a flaw of his coaching ability. And Todd Gurley had 28 rushing attempts, which is the second most of his career (he had 30 carries in his rookie season against the Green Bay Packers.) So, the Rams didn't beat the spread. Big deal. It was a gritty win by the 6-0 Rams. By no means is it an overreaction to state that the Rams are the class of the NFL.Los Angeles Rams vs. Seattle Seahawks: The Professor's preview OverviewThe Professor walked into the class today, looked around the room, took attendance and missing were the Seattle Seahawks Legion of Boom, their running game, and both an offense and defensive line. The Seahawks are are 2-2. Their two wins came at the expense against a weak Dallas Cowboys team and an unimpressive win against 0-4 Arizona Cardinals, who started rookie QB Josh Rosen. After four games, Seattle's defense still ranks a respectable 10th against points allowed, 7th in yards allowed per game, 5th in passing yards allowed per game Authentic Tyler Higbee Jersey , but a deplorable 27th in rushing yards allowed per game. They play our Los Angeles Rams offense who after four games ranks 2nd in points, 1st in total yards per game, 2nd in passing yards per game and 7th in rushing yards per game.On defense, the Rams rank 5th in points per game, 9th in yards allowed per game, 15th in passing yards allowed per game and 5th in rushing yards allowed per game compared to the Seahawks' lifeless offense which ranks 24th in points scored, 28th in yards allowed per game, 29th in passing yards allowed per game and 17th in rushing yards allowed per game.Oh, how the mighty have fallen. If the Seahawks have any chance of winning this game, they have to slow down the Rams' offense, which no one has been able to do thus far. They also must put up points against a pretty good Rams defense.Absent game changing turnovers, the likelihood of this happening is slim as the Rams remain a 7-point favorite to best the Seahawks and send the 12th Man home thinking about how their team is going to catch Los Angeles being three games out.The Seahawks are well aware of their position in the standings. They're a team right now, needing a win in divisional rivalry game, desperately. The Rams on the other hand should approach this game as just another chance to solidify their grip on the NFC Western Division and at the the same time sticking it to a team, who finally gets to feel what its like to have the shoe on the other foot for a change. What the Rams need to do on offenseThe Rams' offense needs to play as if the game against the Minnesota Vikings on Thursday Night Football never ended. They need to find the advantageous matchups against the Seahawks' secondary who are now without Pro Bowl S Earl Thomas and exploit them.Statistically, the Seahawks biggest weakness is in the run game. So Rams RB Todd Gurley needs to get over 100 yards on the ground while Head Coach Sean McVay continues to be aggressive in his playcalling. When the Rams offense is clicking, they can easily score 30 points. That should be more than enough to come out with a win.The Rams' offensive line has to open the holes for Gurley and keep defenders off QB Jared Goff. If QB Goff has time and his wide receivers Cooper Kupp, Robert Woods and Brandin Cooks have the kind of game like they did against the Vikings, forget it. This game will be a blow out. What the Rams need to do on defenseRams fans are completely focused on the Fearsome Threesome comprised of Michael Brockers, Ndamukong Suh and especially Aaron Donald turning Seattle QB Russell Wilson into a rag doll. The Rams' defense needs to shut down any hopes of Seattle winning this game by totally shutting down what little run game the Seahawks have. Without a run game, it will force Wilson to throw the ball and that's when the sacks and turnovers will come.Wilson is an elusive quarterback. He often runs to throw. But in order for Wilson to make plays, the Rams' pass coverage must be tighter than a drum. When Wilson tries to escape looking to make a big play down the field Youth Michael Brockers Jersey , the Rams have to leave him with little or no options. This is when the Rams' law firm of Johnathan Franklin-Myers and his associate Matt Longacre coming from off the edge must force Wilson back into the pocket lying in wait for Donald, Suh or Brockers to chew him up.It's easy for Rams fans to fall into the trap that what happened to Wilson last year In Seattle is sure to happen again. I too would love to see that, but there were a lot of X-factors going into that game such as the schedule timing and fact that the division championship was on the line. This is not a factor in this game. And don't forget what happened in Week 5 last year...I'm not as interested in seeing Wilson suffer as I am with the Rams winning the game, But, if both happen, then it's double my pleasure. What the Rams need to do on special teams.Who knows what new K Cairo Santos is capable of. I'm not giving him a pass by any means. If you're on my Rams team, I expect him to make the field goals when called upon and most importantly, do not miss any extra points.KR/PR JoJo Natson might be able to play. If so, my only concern here is catching the punts coming off a broken hand injury. Returners' hands are first and foremost their most important tool. If JoJo muffs the first punt, I'm going to go crazy not just for the short term. It's the long-term mental effects that will concern me.P Johnny Hekker needs to kick out of his funk--no shanks. Pretty sure I don't have to be too concerned about that; however, you never know until the game is played. The one consistent factor the Rams have had against the Seahawks is the ability to come up with some crazy special teams play under Special Teams Coordinator John "Bones" Fassel, leaving Seattle Head Coach Pete Carroll running up and down the sidelines with that dumbfounded look on his face.Does coach Fassel have trick up his sleeve? We'll have to wait and see.The X-factorSeattle has been a nightmare for the Rams over the years. Many students of mine come to class as the 12th man. They sit there at their desks talking about their dominance over Rams over the this last decade and their one and only Super Bowl victory. They're very loud and relentless taking great pleasure making derogatory about the Rams. While I do my best to ignore the clamor and move forward, we reach a point in our studies called "Coaching to win the big game" mentioning the great Vince Lombardi, Chuck Noll, Don Shula and Bill Walsh. As I conclude my remarks, I say the words Pete Carroll and immediately, the Seattle contingent starts hooping and hollering. USC National Championship. Super Bowl Champions. Blah, blah. I inform these raucous bunch of students who are uninterested in actually learning the game, that Pete Carroll is on this list because this topic is about coaching to win the big game and I decided to mention Pete Carroll as being the dumbest coach in the history of football. I remind the 12th man that Instead of running the ball with Marshawn Lynch to win a second Super Bowl, Carroll and his team of geniuses decided to throw a crossing pattern into the end zone which was picked off by CB Malcolm Butler leading to the improbable result of the Patriots winning the game. When the 12th Man students leap immediately to defend their head coach. I must respectfully ask them to leave since any statements made in support of that decision receives an automatic F. They should just pick up their books and exit the classroom. No one wants to hear from them. That's what this Sunday is all about. No one wants to hear from Seahawks fans about how great their team was or how they still own the Rams or anything close to that. It's time to shut these guys up.

Andy Reid has routinely amused us with colorful food metaphors during his time as Kansas City Chiefs head coach.Remember when he referred to an oft-repeated stat about Chiefs wide receiver touchdowns as a "moldy cheeseburger"?Or the time he said that the NFL preseason was "like a hot dog-eating contest"?Or when he told Terez Paylor that calling the right play at the right moment was like eating a good cheeseburger?Reid gave us another one on Sunday following his team's 38-28 win over the Los Angeles Chargers to open the regular season -- this one about fullback Anthony Sherman Youth Justin Houston Jersey , who had scored on a 36-yard touchdown pass from Patrick Mahomes in the third quarter of the game.Sherman, 30, is entering his eighth season in the NFL.It's almost quaint now to remember the furor that erupted among Chiefs fans when the Chiefs traded cornerback Javier Arenas to the Arizona Cardinals to obtain Sherman -- then a two-year veteran -- in 2013.Just days before, the Chiefs had expended a sixth-round choice to draft Braden Wilson out of Kansas State -- a pick that Arrowhead Pride readers had widely approved. What were they thinking?Trading for another fullback? But -- as it soon became clear -- the Chiefs wanted a fullback, and they just wanted to be sure they had a good one.And Sherman has been a good one. While his box scores have never been anything that could get anyone excited -- his touchdown catch on Sunday was his longest career reception -- he has proved his worth to the Chiefs over and over as a blocker and especially on special teams.Sherman doesn't get many opportunities to make an impact on offense, but as he showed on Sunday, he makes them count.Photo by Kevork Djansezian/Getty ImagesSunday demonstrated another reason the Chiefs find him valuable: he is versatile. The Chiefs came out of the final cutdown with two tight ends on the roster: Travis Kelce and Alex Ellis. Most roster prognostications -- including ours -- included a third tight end on the roster to replace Demetrius Harris during the suspension he served in Week 1.We all assumed -- since we know Reid likes to run formations with three tight ends -- that the Chiefs would keep Jace Amaro for a week, and then cut him to make room for Harris. But the Chiefs were smarter than we were. Why go through the additional aggravation of making transactions when Anthony Sherman can fill in at tight end when needed?"We saw what he did filling in as a running back in Denver," Reid explained after the game on Sunday. "You got to see today what he did filling in as a tight end, and that's why we didn't make a [roster] move, yes -- to answer your question -- yes. Then we get Demetrius [Harris] back, and now we are rolling at tight end with another person that is a good player."Over time, Sherman has become popular.Chiefs fans have come to appreciate not only Sherman's unseen contributions, but also his colorful nature; his annual arrival at training camp in an unusual outfit is awaited as breathlessly as that of a Hollywood starlet on the red carpet during Oscar night. And when players become popular, they get nicknames. The Shermanator and The Tank are often used by Chiefs fans. But among his teammates, Sherman is known as The Sausage. So when speaking to the media about the trust he has in Sherman -- in whatever way he is used on the field -- Reid knew he was getting ready to serve up a money quote that writers like myself would use as an excuse to write a feature story about the Chiefs fullback."I was telling [Chiefs Radio Network executive producer] Dan [Israel], he's got crazy hands, man. You think of him as a sausage, so he goes out, and he's a sausage with hands."Never let it be said that I don't know how to do my job. This is part one of a three-part weekly film analysis on the performance of Patrick Mahomes.Well, this is weird. It's been a while since the Kansas City Chiefs lost a game, and it's the first time in Patrick Mahomes' career. Just as having a young, home-grown quarterback is unfamiliar territory for a generation of Chiefs fans, so is this feeling with the kid under center. The responses have been appropriate to the moment. This wasn't a shellacking. This wasn't remotely embarrassing.Mahomes went to toe to toe with the G.O.A.T. Tom Brady and brought his team roaring back to take a lead in the fourth quarter. Bill Belichick had three extra days to prepare to stop an offense that has been the talk of the league. He got the 23-year-old early in the game with a few plays we'll talk about in the next few days that led to mistakes and turnovers. The Chiefs trailed 24-9 at the half http://www.thechiefsfootballauthentic.com/dee-ford-jersey-au thentic , and things look bleak.Lesser 23-year-old quarterbacks have been chewed up and spit out in Foxborough, and for a half, it looked like that might be the case. Not your guy, Kansas City. The Chiefs lost, but your young quarterback hung 31 in the second half. He earned the respect of yet another locker room. He's learning every opportunity he gets and he's not duplicating many mistakes. There were rough moments on Sunday, but you still got the spectacular you've come to expect. He makes you forget that he's not a veteran every week. The Patriots threw a lot at Mahomes this week, and it worked enough early to force the Chiefs to play from behind. No moment has looked too big for him for an entire game, though. He's still having to manage the juice early, but he continues to figure it out as the game goes on and with enough time to give his team a chance to win. Every week, he's inching closer and closer to it not mattering what the defense tries to do, and you can count on one hand the guys that are like that.Something goodThey scored too quick! This is, of course, the last time the offense would touch the ball. The Patriots are playing Cover 3 and the Chiefs dial play-action with Tyreek Hill working into the boundary on a deep crosser. The Chiefs ask Hill to eat up a ton of ground in order to get over. He threatens the safety vertically as he works across the field, and safety Duron Harmon opens his hips to Hill as he gets depth. As Hill crosses the safety's face, it forces him to flip his hips, giving Mahomes additional space to throw. With the boundary corner occupied by Kelce, there's no one in the way of this throw. The ball was a little behind Hill, but it didn't matter. The velocity let Hill make up for a little lost time to accelerate away from Harmon. The route by Hill gave the duo some margin for error, but the 40-plus-air yard throw with rare velocity helped maintain enough of it for Hill to score. The Chiefs have run similar looks to this with Alex Smith in the past, just with shorter routes. They're stretching the limits with Mahomes and Hill further now. Even though everything wasn't perfect, the Chiefs are still keeping defensive coordinators up at night with plays like these. We're spoiled getting to watch this perfect pairing.Something badHow about we add some positives to this week's something bad before delving into a big mistake? There's 51 seconds remaining in the half and the Chiefs trail by 15. At their own 30, the Chiefs face a third-and-15, needing to extend the drive to keep the ball out of Brady's hands and give themselves a chance to shrink the lead.Things that are becoming norms should not be becoming norms. Quarterbacks aren't supposed to make third-and-long plays look this easy, but every week http://www.thechiefsfootballauthentic.com/eric-fisher-jersey -authentic , it feels like Mahomes pulls one of these off. The Chiefs are lined up in a Y-Iso look with Travis Kelce lined up to the left in the boundary. The Patriots are showing a two-high shell but roll into a Cover 3. They're running a flood concept into the boundary with Kelce clearing space underneath on a vertical. With a late blitzing Kyle Van Noy coming to Mahomes' front side, he rolls to his left with the direction of the pass concept. With space between the underneath defender, the cornerback on the vertical with Kelce and the middle field safety, Mahomes finds Hill with a throw of 38 air yards rolling to his non-dominant side, on a rope to convert for a gain of 27 yards. His ability to rotate his body to be able to deliver the velocity he did is absurd. You can hear a quiet but audible "Wow," from Chris Collinsworth on the game broadcast. Unfortunately, that amazing play was wasted. With 17 seconds remaining and one timeout left at the New England 15-yard line, Mahomes makes a critical mistake.Mahomes does a nice job stepping up against front-side pressure and then exiting to his right. With a chasing Donta' Hightower hanging onto him, he elects to take a chance and throws the ball into congested space to Kelce on the scramble working laterally with him after running a middle curl. The ball is undercut by Harmon, then bounces off of Devin McCourty and back into the hands of Harmon for a drive-ending interception. This play was a first-and-10. Had he thrown the ball away, Mahomes could've had a few more chances to get into the end zone before having to kick a field goal. The Chiefs still had a timeout remaining, so the playbook was still pretty open. This is the kind of mistake Mahomes has mostly avoided in the last few games. I don't expect it to happen too often, but in this situation, the young quarterback tried to do too much. Quarterback anecdoteEvery week, I add a quick note about something I've picked up about the quarterback position through my time learning and playing the game."Kill, Kill!" If you've ever heard that picked up a quarterback saying that on a broadcast microphone, you might have wondered what that meant. The quarterback gives two plays in the huddle and based on what the defense is doing. The play call might sound something like:"Wide Right Jet Right 544 F-Whip...Kill...3 Zone"The pass play is called in the huddle, but if they like the look to run they can kill into a zone-run play. If the quarterback elects to run the original call, he goes through his normal cadence. If he likes his numbers in the box, he would yell "Kill, Kill" into the run play.

Who to play or bench in the NFC North In fantasy football Youth Kenny Clark Jersey , Week 1 is a difficult week to forecast. Of course, there are the ones you should consistently start unless they're on a bye, but there are always those who are still a mystery. New offenses, new coaches, and new weapons can raise a lot of question marks, especially in Week 1. These teams could end up being anything! Before the season starts, we're going to try our best to rationalize who to sit and who to start during the first week in the NFC North. We have one NFC North rivalry matchup, while Minnesota and Detroit have difficult games both inside and outside of the conference.StartsAaron Rodgers, QBBears @ PackersThis is a given, but needs to be acknowledged in light of the Bears' acquisition of Khalil Mack. It's a matchup that we could be talking about for years now. Mack is an all-world defensive player and it really perplexes me that Jon Gruden traded him out of Oakland. Seriously, if I'm power ranking defensive players it'd go: Aaron Donald, Mack, and Jalen Ramsey, in that order. But Mack doesn't play defensive back, defensive tackle, or inside linebacker. What I'm saying is that the Bears didn't fix their entire defense. While Mack may be able to elevate them Cheap Josh Jackson Jersey , there are still other areas of opportunity for Rodgers to exploit them. And Aaron Rodgers has owned the Bears during his career to the tune of 42 touchdowns and just nine interceptions in 19 games.Adam Thielen, WR49ers @ VikingsDon't be worried about starting Thielen against the Niners. Richard Sherman is the new top guy in San Francisco, but he's coming off an Achilles injury. Those are tough to come back from even with today's advancements. The backpedaling and the need to plant and change direction for a defensive back at age 30 is paramount to success. The Niners were still 27th in DVOA against WR1's last year so that's a long way to climb even with Sherman.Matthew Stafford, QBJets @ LionsIn case you waited for a deep round quarterback selection, I hope you went with Stafford. The Jets shelled out good money for Trumaine Johnson this offseason, but he can't cover Marvin Jones Jr., Golden Tate and Kenny Golladay all at once. Morris Claiborne is still the CB2 for the Jets, but he's still not good. At home last season, Stafford threw 17 touchdowns and only three picks last season. There could be some early season rust, but being at home makes it easy for Stafford.SitsJamaal Williams, RBThis is the hill I've been willing to die on all offseason. Williams is fine, but I'm fading this option in Week 1. I think the Packers would be best served getting Rodgers acquainted/reacquainted with his pass catchers. While Williams may find the end zone, he only had three games over 100 all-purpose yards last season with one of those being 100 yards on the ground. I'm not expecting over four yards per carry.Allen Robinson II, WRBears @ PackersYou probably drafted Robinson to be a flex or WR2 which is great, but you're counting on a lot to click right away with the Bears offense. Not only did the Bears add a ton of weapons, but they're instituting a new offense with Mitchell Trubisky at the helm. Robinson also hasn't played in a year after an ACL tear in week one of 2017. The Packers have a lot to be left desired with their secondary as well Youth Geronimo Allison Jersey , but I'd want to start more of a sure thing. The Packers run too often on 2nd- or 3rd-and-long The Green Bay Packers beat the Buffalo Bills badly on Sunday, but no one was happy with the offense and with good reason. Six of those 22 points came on long field goals, and McCarthy seemed to settle for another long field goal attempt on the first drive, though Jamaal Williams was unable to gain sufficient yardage on a third-down play to try it.McCarthy settles a lot, and that's becoming big problem because it costs the team possessions. There are two major philosophies about picking up first downs. The first, older philosophy captures the NFL standard for most of the 1980s and 90s, which holds that first and second downs are to be used to make 3rd down easier.A few four-yards runs on the early downs will give the team flexibility to either run or pass on 3rd and short, making for an easy conversion. The new philosophy holds that offenses are now so good (and defenses so restrained) that it's more efficient to give yourself as many opportunities as possible to gain ten yards on an individual passing play, and that the vast majority of the time, any quarterback will complete a 10-yard pass before they are forced to punt. While you do need to run sometimes, just to prove that you might, the latter philosophy is far closer to optimal. We know that, on first down, a successful play must pick up at least 4 yards, and in reality that number is probably closer to 5. Your subsequent 2nd and 3rd down plays are really only successful if they pick up the first down, which means that if your first down play fails and leaves you with six yards to go or more http://www.packerscheapshoponline.com/cheap-authentic-geroni mo-allison-jersey , running is almost always a bad idea because runs don't generally pick up big yardage. Smart teams know this. For instance, let's look at the Rams, who are currently the cream of the crop in terms of football smarts. On 2nd or 3rd down, with 6 yards or more to go, and when the game is within one score, the Rams have passed 87% of the time. They have only run in this situation four times all season. It's just not something they do. In the aggregate, their plays have been successful 52% of the time, while their passing plays have been successful 60% of the time. The Packers, on the other hand, still strive for balance in these scenarios. They have passed only 68% of the time and run 32% of the time. Those runs have only succeeded 1/3 of the time, and overall in these situations, the Packers only succeed 38% of the time. We tend to focus on 3rd down efficiency, but the Packers are basically pissing away plays and drives every time they do this. Despite the fact that the Packers have an all-time great quarterback, only seven teams pass less than the Packers in this situation, which is insane. On their first drive against the Bills, the Packers faced 2nd and 10 from the Buffalo 40-yard line. Either McCarthy or Rodgers called a run to Jamaal Williams Corey Linsley Jersey , the worst Packer runner, that lost a yard. Incredibly, on 3rd and 11, they went back to the same well, and Williams was stoned for no gain. Even if Williams hadn't been completely stuffed, the best case scenario for those play calls was a slightly shorter but still long field goal attempt, which is hardly an ideal outcome. It is these pointless plays and drives that seems designed specifically to not score, which cause the offense such problems. The Packers then did this again in the 3rd quarter when up 19-0. The team faced 3rd and 10 and called a run to Ty Montgomery, which was stuffed for a loss of one. The Packers were forced to punt from their own 18, and the defense was fortunate to preserve the shutout. The fact of the matter is that smart teams don't operate this way. They pass more frequently and with more success when a first down is still in doubt. The actual plays that were called against the Bills were not half bad, and the second drive of the game -- which resulted in a touchdown -- was a thing of beauty. But the problems with the offense are deeper than individual play design. They show a fundamental lack of football understanding. McCarthy's focus on execution has always been about the trees, but much of the rest of the NFL now runs a hyper-efficient forest, and Mike just doesn't see it.

After spending a whole offseason dogging the Bengals Bengals Joe Mixon Jersey , the national media has finally seen the light.NFL.com writer Adam Schein, who typically never has anything good to say about the Bengals, named nine teams that are emerging bandwagons. The Bengals' high flying offense has been impressive so far, and Schein can't get enough, even without Tyler Eifert. Geno Atkins and the defensive line are another reason why Schein lists Cincinnati as one of the top teams to start following this season. Here's what he says:He's not wrong. After watching the national media look down on the Bengals the entire offseason--with many predicting the Bengals to finish in last place in the AFC North--Schein is among the first of hopefully many to come around. It's still very early in the season, which makes this the perfect time to abandon your lowly one-win squad and pick up some orange and black garb. Most Cincinnati fans would probably agree there is always room for one more on the Bengals' bandwagon. After all, if the Bengals are good enough for Beyonc茅, they're good enough for you too. Ten players were unable to practice for the Bengals on Wednesday as they prepare for the Buccaneers. Among them were Vontaze Burfict (hip), Darqueze Dennard (sternoclavicular), John Ross (groin), Nick Vigil (knee), Tyler Kroft (foot) Bengals Geno Atkins Jersey , Giovani Bernard (knee), Bobby Hart (back) and Dre Kirkpatrick (Achilles). Of that group, Bernard, Vigil, Dennard and Kroft missed last week and are expected to be sidelined again this week. All of them are expected to return sometime after the Week 9 bye, but it's untelling who among them will be ready to face the Saints in Week 10.Starting center Billy Price (foot) is trending toward being ready for that game, as he returned to get in a limited session on Wednesday. He probably won't suit up this week, but just seeing him on the practice field was a sight for sore eyes. It's unclear how serious Hart's back issue is, as he has yet to miss a game this year. If he were to be out, Jake Fisher figures to start in his place, but Fisher is now dealing with a back issue as well. If both of them were to miss Week 8, Cedric Ogbuehi would be the starting right tackle (pray for Andy Dalton). As for Kirkpatrick Bengals Tyler Boyd Jersey , his Achilles issue is also new, so it's unclear how severe it is and if it will sideline him this week. With Dennard already out, Kirkpatrick being inactive would lead to either Darius Phillips or KeiVarae Russell being thrust into the starting lineup. Oh, and long snapper Clark Harris has a concussion he apparently suffered Sunday vs. the Chiefs. If he's out this week, the Bengals may have to cut someone and sign another long snapper. Among the Buccaneers not practicing today included All-Pro defensive tackle Gerald McCoy, who missed last week with a calf injury and may be out again this week, which would be a big loss for Tampa Bay. With starting running back Peyton Barber sidelined with his ankle issue, rookie Ronald Jones is getting the first-team reps this week. A second-round pick out of USC, Jones has just 17 carries for 45 yards and a touchdown this season.
